Simplify! Let the water do the work!
Watercolor workshop with Carolyn Emerson
When: Friday and Saturday, February 18 - 19, 2022, 10 am – 4 pm
Where: Fellowship Room, Manchester Church of Christ
595 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester CT
Cost: $100/per person
This is for you whether you are new to watercolor or an experienced painter trying to loosen up. We will use the medium in two different ways, both resulting in beautiful effects. So fluid and unfussy are both methods, you will likely complete a number of paintings each day (so bring a generous supply of good paper).
The first day we will paint wet into wet surprising ourselves with what happens and how remarkably fresh our paintings appear.
The second day will involve more detailed work, beginning with wet into wet, ending with minimal overpainting on dry paper, with a little pen and ink thrown in between the layers for good measure.

MAA member Carolyn Emerson has taught a good many watercolor workshops over the years, passing on different techniques, tips and tricks, as she has learned them herself, always searching for ways to help her fellow painters create successful work. Because watercolor is such a fascinating and fickle medium with so much variation in application, she feels that one never quite arrives at full mastery. But in the process of reaching for it, everyone experiences moments of brilliance (occasionally unintended). In taking this workshop, if you realize some of those moments, Carolyn will be as proud and pleased as you are.
