In this one-day workshop, you'll learn the secrets to drawing portraits & faces. This workshop will walk you through the process of drawing faces from start to finish working from a photo. We will begin by learning how to map out proportions and face-type to capture the likeness of your subject; we will study the planes of the face as we explore form and shading; finally, we will gain an introduction to facial anatomy to gain some insight into the structure of the human face and features. The afternoon will be devoted to you working on your own drawing with adding the layers and all the finishing touches. If time allows and you finish early, you may start on a second drawing.

Artist Bio:

Eliza Moser is a contemporary realist painter based out of South Hadley, Massachusetts. She is a part of the recent “atelier movement”, a contemporary group of artists whose technique is focused on reviving classical realist methods of painting. Eliza was introduced to
classical drawing and painting from a young age by Angel Academy Alumnus Christina Mastrangelo, and later finished her education by graduating from the Florence Academy of Art in Italy. After returning to the U.S. in 2017, Eliza built her reputation as a professional
painter by teaching workshops throughout western Massachusetts, and exhibiting her work in local and national exhibitions; her painting "Fledging" showcased at the Guild of Boston Artists' Regional Juried Exhibition in 2023. She more recently received Best in Show at the
2024 North East Fine Arts Exhibition for her painting "Yet We Sleep, We Dream".

In 2023, Eliza founded her own gallery and art school: Eliza Moser Fine Art - Studio & Gallery, in the Village Commons of South Hadley. Since then, her studio has become a creative hub for the surrounding community and beyond. Eliza currently continues to teach and create from her studio, sharing her knowledge as an instructor while continuing to build a body of her own work.
