Any medium may be used in this workshop. This workshop approaches color in an intuitive and hands-on way. Sandra will introduce a series of simple exercises to learn from. We will then focus on the fundamentals of color theory by exploring the different groups of color that make up the twelve segments of our basic color wheel. The goal is learning to use the color wheel simply and efficiently to control your painting. Finally, Sandra will guide you through making better color selections for the desired effect and feeling that you wish to see in your work. Click here to read all the details.
Artist Bio:
Sandra is a nationally and internationally renowned painter and teacher and has pursued a life long devotion to her art . Sandra began her studies at Paier School of Art , graduating with honors in 1978. Beginning as an illustrator and portrait artist , she continued her studies in a month-long residency at Studio Escalier in France and later at the Forensic Facial Reconstruction at Scottsdale Artists School. Sandra's recent accomplishments include acceptance into Oil Painters of America Inaugural Salon Show. She is one of thirty-five artists accepted into Plein Air Vermont in Bennington and was a featured artist in Fine Art Connoisseur magazine still life issue and American Art Collector magazine.
When not painting, Sandra enjoys the privilege of teaching and mentoring aspiring artists . She was instrumental in creating an artist's cultural exchange in Florence, Italy for American and Italian artists to study and learn from each other. The culmination of these efforts resulted in shows in Italy and the United States. Sandra was on the Board of Directors for the Lyme Art Association, Connecticut Society of Portrait artists and Wethersfield Academy for the Arts. Sandra is also a founding member of the Academy where she served as President and created Connecticut's first formal Atelier program.
